So, as many of you know...I am being transferred out of this miserable country! Will be back in the saddle at my new job on Monday, but have a  lot to do between now and then as well as soon thereafter...so bloging will take a back seat to real life for a while. I woke up Saturday morning dreading the day as we had a “Staff Assistance Visit” from our higher headquarters. Fortunately because we rule, it went well. I was later “dragged” out to the pub Saturday evening by my roomie, and we have a gracious helping of Rum and Coke (Why is all of the Rum gone?!?!). I woke up Sunday early, and slightly hung over, drove out to the Airsoft site, and proceeded to engage targets willy-nilly…I ran with the usually crew or misfit and miscreants and Conrad the cop showed up just to say “Hi” – he hooked me up with a killer “CAMBS ARU” Shirt – very cool! – Then the site owner and my longtime friend John D. bought a killer Chinese Dinner…a GRAND day indeed.

In spite of our own Congress not believing that this war is just or even necessary I never believed the Dems would come out at actually go across the line to complete Vichy style defeatism. This is beyond a Chamberlain-esque appeasement and re-education program. While the liberal Orwellian policies on right-think and right-speech insure that we get closer to Dhimmitude, we have our Congressional leadership DECLARING DEFEAT. <rant>I hate bureaucracy....I am sick to death of the CONSTANT bullshit that goes with this transfer/move….GOSH...they are ruining my life! I had to come back to this frackin’ stoopid place because of bureaucracy (on my own dollar)…and now I have to return to the States to another Federal job to which I am transferring…out of my own pocket as well (because of the same idiot bureaucracy)…If it weren’t for the bennies and the love of job…and needing to eat…and feed the kids…and pay bills…I would SO walk out of here….well…that explains the pissed off part….I am HUNGRY too! Why? Because AAFES stocks exactly 4 food products - 2 of which are usually out of stock, the other two are pure fat…further, the only eatery here apparently buys their meager supplies at a HUGE markup on the British economy at that ridiculous 2:1 exchange rate…thus not having enough of anything, and what they do have is WAY overpriced! Not to mention that all of their “would you like fries with that?” employees must be on full bennies and pulling like 40K a year…and they are only open for like 2 hours a day….1.5 of which I am in the office...<rant />

(And some of you shoud know better!) For the god's sake! Everywhere I look...what ever happened to proper nomenclature? A clip is (generally) a stamped metal "holder" for ammunition that allows a speedy load/reload of a magazine before it is discarded (the M1 Garand is slightly different). A magazine feeds the ammunition into the breach of a weapon. *Most* 9mm Semi-Automatic pistols are fed by a detachable magazine...not by a fixed magazine which is reloaded with a "clip"...grrrr....(see sites of word misuse as well as a detailed pictorial description of clips vs. magazines below the fold)

SO our friendly neighborhood environmental chekist just came up to the office to warn us about the combined UK/US Orwellian policies on storing “dangerous chemicals” (and forcible recycling)…so these are the facts:

1)      any flammable chemicals must be stored in a “fire resistant” locker

2)      anything not issued by the government can not be kept unless it is used in small amounts (once per month or so)…but then only with a locally approved and signed form in order to track these “dangerous chemicals”

3)      any non-dangerous aerosols must be stored in a proper locker and not out in the open

4)      if a chemical is in a non-OEM container it must be properly labeled – to include manufacturer, date, address, etc

Once I thought I knew what Pop was trying to tell me, with that crooked, knowing grin of his…smiling at me the way he smiled. That smile was only for the ones he loved. Really loved, not the "oh hell, I love him because he's my great-grand-uncle (twice removed or whatever)" smile. Is it me…or are British drivers the biggest bunch of assholes ever? So imagine this….you are driving down the road at a safe (albeit a bit illegal) speed in the fast lane…passing one and all…there is a Volvo doing about 5mph under the limit in front of you and you are gaining fast…he is slowly approaching an “articulated lorry” (a Semi to Americans) that is in the slow lane up ahead about a mile…So here's me: I flash my lights…he fails to move over…I flash again as I get closer…no response…I see him looking in the rear view…he knows I am here and that I want him out of the way…I check the slow lane…plenty of room…no other immediate traffic…I signal and begin to pass him…this ASS literally downshifts and drops the hammer AND TRIES TO BOX ME IN….so of course I am an Alpha Male…I floor it and pass him anyway…he gets REALLY PISSED and tries to get up on my bumper…flashing his brights….So I keep the throttle engaged and leave him in the dust giving the international “You are Number 1!”….grrrr…..I can't WAIT to get back to the States...where some American Idiot will probably do the same thing...
